Have heard both frankston and casey going to be light on for goalies at this stage. Mphc has a new coach and a couple of new players . Would think Kew would be the team to beat.

Casey have many talented goalkeeper it shouldn't be an issue. As for the coach is Shelton not coaching on? Would have thought this would have been the best chance of him getting a premiership at this level seeing as the closest three were promoted to premier league. My guess is kew or pegs to be right up there this year both were very dangerous throughout last season but saying that the recent promotions from the lower grades have proven to be quite competitive over the last few years of vl1! Anyone in the top 6 this year could snag the choccys!

Mphc coach is kev reddern. coached womens a few years back.
frankston & casey light on goalies? interesting, could be the year of new goalies and younger goalies to step up to challenge and make a name for themselves?
tbh casey and werribee should be the real standouts for vl1 & 2. but i do see a few upsets happening this year. Looking forward to seeing the fixtures for both.
VL1 predictions

Interesting predictions for VL1. Do you know what teams are in VL1?
So what has happened to Crawford (frankston VL1) and Chaffey (Casey VL1R)?

No idea about Crawford but Chaffey at Powerhouse , still playing juniors Think your talking about Tristan. Mitch is still at Casey and along with Bowman and Holloway I think they're right for keepers!

RE. VL2 There's a lot of talk about Werribee/Huxx and Bayside here.... I would have thought Huxx getting injured last year showed to Werribee (and everyone) that they are too 1 dimensional. In their last couple of games of the regular season and their semi they didn't appear to be half the team they were when he was fully fit...if he goes down again this year will they have the same problem? As for Bayside, having not spent a lot of time looking at VL3 or the old SL5 I'm not too familiar with them, but last year they were the only team to loose to Swinburne who finished bottom of all Vic League teams, and they lost both their finals so I can't see them troubling the top half of the table in VL2. And Bendigo Blazers in the above prediction?, apparently had a bit of cash to splash on new players, but bought a new goat for the village to increase morale so I don't think they'll be near the top either. It's between Monash, Knox and Xavs for me.

So lets chat what this page is about then, VL1 - Cant look past Kew, surely not seeing finals actions for the last 2 years and managing to hold their players plus the return of Tom and local boy Danny now playing they will be a strong well rounded team, the injection of 2 PL players along with their English guy should go well, scoring will be helped with Danny on board now even at 40 years old.
West Vic - talk about flying under the radar - they are in the market, they have signed the Australian Country 21s captain, and word is they are making sure that people are well looked after worth a crack the tick the boxes and HV love to see a country side back in PL surely. With the Uni year about to commence its been mentioned they have 2 players from QLD that played QLD 21s and there for Uni.
Are Brunswick getting players back from Footscray ? Gippsland no coach, and International player not returning. Casey you cant ever say they wont be there strong team but might struggle as starting late. Its all in Kew's hands, they have had so many walk up starts to PL but they just keep slipping, it must have crushed them to see Casey go then Melb Uni, 12 months later and lets not talk about last year.
Vic League 2 - Who watches this? Plenty of talks about Hux from Werribee (CV Blazers and Werribee have to be up there) seriously what is clear is this guy has morals to stay at his club, pity other players don't see the same. Last year first year coach after not really having good coaches for some time out that way. Old Xavs lock them in as top of table for most of the year, Richo was the last coach that had Brunswick playing finals, and really this is the level that best suits Old Xavs.
Bayside, who are they and where are they even located and why are they being discussed ? Have they not been straight up and down in the past already, yes they have a coach (actually the last coach to get Kew to finals if I recall but of the radar I thought for a few years now) but I am not sure they have anything else do they, so lets talk about serious contenders. Can we not talk about teams like St Bedes who had some Internationals last year and no doubt will look to have a crack, or Monash who have been always unlucky come end of the season, players love the coach and I have no doubt they will be amongst it this year. But lets be serious apart from maybe 3 to 4 teams would anyone actually go and watch the bottom end of this comp?
Vic League 1 - Top 2 Kew and West Vic Bottom tier Gippsland and MPHC
Vic League 2 - Top 4 Old Xavs, Werribee, CV Blazers and Monash Bottom tier Bayside and Old Melburnians (another Brunswick ex coach in this grade I just noticed)

West Vic always under rated. Those boys play in 2 local comps on top of the VL1 comp too. As the year goes on, due to their extra games and trainings, those boys just get better and better, and their on field repore tighter and tighter. Also they've dropped like 4 home games in the past 2 years. Prince of Wales park is a pain in the d*ck to go to. No Brunswick players back from Footscray though Streeton back after an unsuccessful stint with Essendon Kew as contenders- I'll believe it when I see it Casey- again no depth. Cant launch a genuine assault on staying in Prems when you've only got 13 1s caliber guys Monash- dont know about their hockey prospects for 2017, but best bunch of lads to play against by far. Always a good spread of food and beers after the game.

Both Ashton twins playing I think too. They've been playing in the Tuesday night comp that Brunswick is running their 1s through currently.

What's Croydon like as a team? lost 8-0 to GHC Pennant B more important matters than this... Let's get back to vl1 & 2 predictions. Kew the team to beat on vl1 and werribee the team to beat in vl2. Dark horses for me in vl1 would be Latrobe and frankston. Vl2 the dark horses for me would have to be Knox and I'd have to say bayside. They must be doing something right if they are getting talked about on here. I know nothing about them I'll give them a go. Good luck to them.
