If Southern want to keep finishing bottom 4 in MPL, let them have their NZ players. The players brought over are not standouts or having an impact apart from L'Hullier. Let them waste away their talented juniors who if coached properly will be a great team in 4-5 years when they are all around 20-23. If Southern realise this there is no stopping them.

Would say it's not working as they aren't really developing the next tier of players, the New Zealanders they do have playing aren't actually that good bar one. Seems like quite a toxic atmosphere and sounds like the people the club are spending money on are the ones who get a free ride and aren't actually giving back to the club much nor training properly. Just snippets I've heard from people who've either quit or left southern over the past couple of years Im from Southern and this is a load of rubbish. The atmosphere is not toxic nor has a lot of money been spent. I wouldnt be relying on good information from people who have quit or left as they no doubt have an axe to grind. Not developing next tier of players? Check out how many in HV state teams and programs. Quote 4-5 New Zealanders from southern. I haven't paid rent in Melbourne for 3 years, as it's been covered by the club. I'd say that's a fair amount of rent for players who don't really do much in terms of on field points.

Clearly this is something that southern have been able to get away with for a few years (the trans Tasman agreement) and clearly HV should look into changing this agreement. It's funny how rumours fly, WPL see no reason to bring in an extensive amount of players from overseas, as the focus is on playing as many home grown player as possible, creating stability in the clubs future. Given 2016 was an Olympic year, it becomes difficult to source players whom are of a similar level to Maartje, but there is hope given the Olympic campaign is now over, there is possibility of world class players retiring from national level, who may seek to play in a different country.
As for the MPL, after watching the MPL final this year there was a common occurrence seen in both powerhouse and camberwells teams. Correct me if I am wrong, but the yougest player on the field in the whole game was no younger than say 22 years old. This is where the club lacks its strength, the average age of the team would easily be under 20 (women are the same with the average age of around 17). There is pleanty of future talent in this squad that given 4 years will hopefully be in their prime. It seems as if in the mean time SUHC are doing all they can to keep their Premier league position so that when these players are hitting their prime they have a club they can represent and we can proudly call home grown talent, meanwhile developing these players skills and giving them opportunities seen fit.

Camberwell had 3-4 21 or under. Powerhouse the same.

Max Hendry is 18 plus a few others played 21s. Powerhouse were a bit older but still had 20 year olds playing.

If you go through playing lists you will find that Camberwell and PH both played a couple of 16 and 17 year olds during the season. Not sure about Donc and Hawks

I was directly referring to the grandfianal where the youngest player to step on the field was 20 and he only came on at the 65' minute for house and CHC had 2 18 year olds (Hendry and Appleby). Both these 18 year olds played less than half the season in PL also.
Look at both teams, and the stats, all the young players played limited games, Dalton for House played 2 games and Chaffey played 9 (there was and another 18 year old who didn't actually make the field all season).
Few lies going on, CHC had no players under 18 play for them for the whole season, unless they were played without being entered onto the Altiusrt system, which deserves a fine and automatic game loss. Training with and playing with are 2 different things, let's have a little think before making comments with little truth.

In finals you play your best available group of 14 odd players. Camb and PH to be applauded they are playing number of young ones and have a group training week in week out. What is the issue?

What is story at Footscry? Both coaches gone or Anderson scawping to Men? Lachlan Anderson is definitely coaching the women. Josh Burt has the option to coach the men again.

I've heard that Jay Stacey is leaving Hawthorn due to contract negotiations. Someone needs to breath life into forum lots of vacancies and few appointments Footscray. Josh Burt retired, who is being interviewed for MPL Stacey pay offer for 2017 slashed at Hawthorn after Premiership, interesting way to move coach on. Lets say Stacey to Footscray women in swap for Anderson to Hawthorn Camberwell need Men and Womens coaches. Why no appointments here? MCC Men moved coach on? New one yet? TEM advertising? Any applicants Doncaster women Southern women? MUHC women? Any others? Players on the move?
