Seems in recent times Victorian clubs, HV Admin etc been very anti OS players in our competition. Many view sourcing players from OS by Victorian clubs at best an unfair asvantage and worse some form of cheating diluting the "Victorianess" of our comps or taking the place of deserving 15 years olds playing PL. At Wollongong I was shocked how many Vic players are apparently in Malaysia, rumour was ten for cash apparently now, or in Europe for experience in higher competitions and opportunity to live OS you assume. What are peoples views on that and which players and clubs are involved. Are they back for season start? Is it a good thing going OS?anyone know what sort of money we are talking about? Few I heard about rumour many more Greensborough Pollard top Dutch League (assume back June) Hammond Malaysian league then Perth
MCC Bretherton Malaysian League
Doncaster Keiran Malaysian League then Perth
Camberwell Kleinschmiidt Malaysian League then Perth
Wav Knee in Europe with Aus Indoor, not sure if playing club OS
Not sure about women maybe not the opportunities?

I thought Pollard was back playing in England? Stock from Powerhouse is in Malaysia Ephraums from SUHC is in Malaysia One of the Steffens from Waverly is in Malaysia as well. Wookie from MUHC went last year with Burrows but I don't think they went this year.
Great opportunity for players to go play in a short overseas national league as a preseason whether for cash or not. Seems to be a lot of non AHL standard players over there which may limit opportunities for others in the future.

You're so right actually. Playing hockey overseas wouldn't be beneficial at all dude, totally doesn't expose you to different styles and ways of play. Also playing overseas instead of doing nothing in your offseason wouldn't help you come back fit and match ready for the upcoming season at all. I can't see any positive benefits at all for playing overseas. You're a muppet mate

I do not think we are anti overseas players but if you look back out how many players come from overseas, how many are real stand outs and raise the team/league standard.
Most of the Dutch players Victoria gets are lazy or don't want to play physical hockey.

"Most of the Dutch players Victoria gets are lazy or don't want to play physical hockey."
You are a jerk.
Australian and Victorian Hockey is played more like AFL and Rugby and probably explains why Australia does so poorly at the Olympics. At the Olympics the umpires don put up with the bad behavior. Once you remove the Bullying and Intermediation, the Australians are brought back to field pretty quickly.

Robert Van Der Horst might be good, but can he do it on a cold, wet, Wednesday night at Frankston?
