They were not running a full team with names missing. In MPLR, TEM went down 3-4 in an even contest and had 3 juniors filling in who did well. Well done they lost to the team that finished 9th last year... Good to see the healthy TEM bashing going on... welcome to premier league.

A lot of tossers floating on the sidelines of hockey fields who have a physique only rivaling Laurie Oakes and somehow are in tune with quality hockey.

TEM are going to have to reinforce their nets by the sound of it, expect to see vast damage from opposition teams this season. 1sts and 2nds to rack up the ton in conceded goals..

Footscray lost 2-1 to Mentone, intereting result but doubt it will go that way during the year

Has anyone seen anything to suggest that Mentone and Yarra won't have the same problems. Just like MUHC last year Seeing as the discussion was about TEM would suggest why the response is about TEM... Is this overly hard to grasp?

Pre season form doesn't necessarily translate to regular season form. Players without being world beaters can have a huge impact on a team's structure. tournament this weekend at hawthorn between, hawthorn, TEM, Camberwell and Doncaster. This will provide some more insight to how TEM are progressing. MUHC got points last year and were pretty competitive in the 2nd half of the season. If I were TEM, Mentone and Yarra I'd park the bus and spend all my time at training on break away strategy and PCs.

Employ umpiring extraordinaire Anthony Trail to coach, no team has parked the bus like MCC over the years... wont win you a flag but it certainly rattles a few of the higher attack focused teams.

Why park the bus? This is the issue with people's minds! Why not try and play good hockey that will build over time and can actually win you games? If any new team parks the bus they might steal points but it will just prove to the hockey community that they can't match it in PL.

Nothing wrong with parking the bus, it's not against the rules.
If a team can defend for 70 minutes then snag a late goal, more power to them.

My memory is a bit vague, I don't remember Yarra winning too many VL1 finals matches either. In fact I remember quite a few losses. Good to see the healthy TEM bashing going on... welcome to premier league. gonna have their share of haters given they got promoted from fourth and didn't win a final.

PH v Yarra mid week. YV had one out in Bannan apparently with talk of Hawes playing in coming weeks (thought he was at Haw again) and three OS players still to come???. PH had 7 or 8 out from GF and played neraly all of there best young ones and 2s who had put in big preseason inc underage GK. Score was around 7 1 , no one counting but not a reflection of game as PH kept "hitting the bus parked in the D" when not practicing keeping possession outside All it illustrates is the gap. to there credit YV kept going, need to get fitter and was great the teams played gives a standard for YV to aim for. Big thing YV tossed out of defence a lot to reieve pressure straight to PH players uncontested, why not get a couple of strikers up the groud as targets??If you were coaching bottom 6 side, take risks, forget the score, enjoy the game and improvement will come. MUHC did that and improved every round last yesr Any reports from Womens games?
