Group left today for a weekend trip , Mt Gambier , Not sure who they are playing against . No promotion or info about it this like there was last year.......how were players selected? selected on combination of past performance and first few academy sessions people need to get over their complaining , just because your kid tries their best and has a good attitude dosen't guarantee selection and neither it should .

whos complaining??? Simple question asked by someone who's not involved and certainly has no kids that should be involved. once you could look at the HV website and know what was happening doesn't seem to be the case these days.....And it seems anytime anyone asks a SIMPLE question on this forum it's assumed they are a disgruntled parent!! Not all of us have children that are involved and are just interested in what's happening in our state....guess that's not allowed either.

Missing the old High Performance manager already are we. That was the one who many said had no idea what was going on, or how to run a HP dept if I recall. You all kept saying Ben and Emily were the only ones in that department who were worth anything. Maybe now you're realising who led/drove all the changes and improvements and who controlled the department and ran it in a professional manner. She was always conscious of the publicity and visibillity of HV HPerformance I think there will be a lot more omissions, mistakes and failures as time goes by.

They all seem to be happy with the new team.

God, old Hp manager worked part time and all the good things started happening when HV.got Emily Hurtz and Seccull in full time. I heard from parents of girls on Mt Gambier trip Hurtz finished her Nursing degree........hope that doesnt mean she is leaving? Would be a disaster.

Looking at the information on the Hockey Victoria site regarding making a state team, has it just become a money making venture. Looks like you have to pay to attend all the extra things and then pay another $40 on top of that and that doesn't even get you a trial. Where or who is all this money going to? How much are parents paying to get there daughters a trial. Is it working? Do you know need to be rich just to make a trial? Shouldn't we be encouraging girls to trial, not make it hard or price them out of it. Happy my daughters are no longer Juniors, all seems very confusing and expensive. U18 nominations close 24 Jan. You have to osy $40 to be 'seen' by an AIO. Lists announced late Jan and 1st trial in mid Feb. Between date of taking $40 and trial dates there is NO academy or specialists days do when will you 'be seen'. Squads MUST be chosen prior to nomination date! Teams already chosen? Sounds like a scam to me

Hv made it clear to be seen one must be in academy, or be seen at a elite skills development day. One must nominate to be seen at an elite skills development day prior to the ESDD, One is also seen at academy, automatically. But still need to nominate to "identify" interest in trialling.
all clearly written in high performance pathway. What is the issue?

The issue might be that someone today pays a nomination fee on the HV link and expect to be considered. It should be explicit from the link that only those who have attended either academy or an elite day for period X to Y are eligible to nominate. As is, some bunny may pay get the privilege of seeing either their own or their kid's name not on a trial list. Just in need to tidying up the process and language etc.

"Only players who nominate will be assessed". My point is that all the assessing has been done prior to the nomination.... So why the $40 fee?

HV must already have the final player lists yet they ask interested parties to nominste and take their $40 knowing that they will not be on the list. Its wrong on all levels

You are watched and assessed in academy whether you have nominated or not. So for those in academy they can save their $40 until the last minute. If you aren't in academy you need To have paid your $40 prior to attending the elite skills development day.
Pretty straightforward really.
There are quite a few u18s in academy who may nominate due to schooling

My point exactly. Why are academy kids asked to pay $40. They have alredy been assessed... Where is the mondy going?

HV are again advertising for 'nominations' for U15 & U18 State team. Policy clearly says that you will be observed by an AIO at one of the specified days (ie academy, elite development days etc etc) AFTER nomination - only problem is Acaddmy will be finished by the time you nominate and there are no other specific days... exactly what is the $40 for and where is it going. The final player assesment lists MUST have already been completed so taking parents money is a farce!

Have they told participants if there are one or two under 18 sides?

The one or two teams is th real question
The rest is clear if you read the blurb on nomination process

May have changed, but my understanding as of the end of the school year last year was that the APS had voted to not be associated with School Sport Victoria, but not sure about AGSV or other Independent School Sport Associations. This being the case, no student from an APS school will be eligible to trial and play in the U16 Team Vic Hockey team in 2017. Will obviously leave quite a gap in continued development of those students that are deemed ineligible. Dont know exact numbers, but APS students tend to make up quite a number of the SSV teams. Will leave quite a significant gap across a number of sports I'm guessing... Not sure if the situation has changed and am happy to be corrected. Have spoken to Lachie Anderson and am pretty sure HV are already planning on putting things in place to bridge this gap.

Wonder if the kids who have been selected in the Aus team then get dropped now if they are in an APS school
