Its a pity that the junior development pathway / academy has been undermined in this years Boys U15 selection process. Selecting kids who would have otherwise have been lucky to make the white team with other coaches / selectors, and not going down the U14 development team path. This is the elitism of the chosen ones that started a few years ago with this group. Hopefully HV will wake up and not allow it to go beyond to U18, 21s and AHL. Explain further how this at all the case?

It is clear that there are at least 3-4 players in the white team that should be in the blue team. I have been waiting for this elitism to end since the first selection of bottom age under 12's five years ago. I have watched the U14's shield all of last year and have been witness to older Victorian state players discuss how one those who missed out on the blue team is without match in game play on the Eastern side due to strength and skill. Yet he did not make the blue team due to this favoritism. This favoritism is very real and of great concern to those who deserve a fair and reasonable go. Unfortunately I have no hope that will change looking forward in under 18's and 21's. It is completely unfair to have the same coach & selector year after year for this age group.

In conversation, the older ex-state players were suggesting that he was without equal in relation to his game play and the skills exhibited throughout the season.
In my view there are some players that are at a similar level or higher but not many.
Either way my point is this; the ex-state players were able to recognise the skills as being at the highest of levels in this age group, yet he did not get selected for the blue team.
Clearly something is wrong with this selection process.

Perhaps the player you are referring to , and I have no idea as am out of this age group , is just not the right team fit with the rest of the players selected in that team .

Wouldn't be the first time the facts got in the way of a good story here. Ex State players is a very broad term, are they coaches? Are they part of the coaching program at HV? Or just average Joes that once wore a Vic shirt?

That is not a competitive list, have to feel for the top age kids that many are taking time out of there final year of school and to go away and know that you won't be competitive must be heartbreaking.

Maybe some were exempt - Aus futures?? Not sure you can get an exemption for being part of Aust future , although actually think that kids who are in Futures and Emerging squads should be an automatic IN .No clue what happened at girls trial but find it incredibly hard to believe that the emergency GK was not a clear IN as I believe she should be . Pretty sure only 2 boys on Aust futures list still eligible for U18 this year.

Why should the emergency goalkeeper for the girls' Under 18 team have been an automatic IN?
Did she trial well? Did she trial better than the two selected?
Didn't she throw a tantrum a couple of years ago at a national competition and walked off the pitch before the end of a game? - seems to have a bad reputation behaviour wise as far as I am aware.
Never seen her do anything amazing at trials or games over a number of years.
No one should rest on her laurels, no one should be an automatic IN.

It is interesting to see how the teams change over the years for the same group.
Looking at the under 13 state team of 2012, which is the group now top age under 18, only one of the under 13 team is in the under 18 womens team, and five of the boys. When comparing to the 15 state team of 2014, six of the boys from 2014 and seven of the girls. It certainly shows the team changes over time.
