Was there a confrontation at the trials over the selectors?

I didn't see a confrontation - did you hear something?
personally, I don't think much has changed in 20 years.
what HV say the selection process is and what it actually is are two different things.
selectors only showing up for one of the two days really got my goat... How is that fair for the kids? for one of the age groups I don't think the two selectors get on that well and judging by the number of train ons, they clearly had trouble agreeing.
the age old issue of selectors wanting to pick kids from their own club, region, family/friendship circles or even from Vic teams they've coached in the past is alive and well and I don't think HV will ever be capable of developing a process that is more transparent and robust.
perhaps they should make sure that the home club of each player selected, the selectors and the coaches are listed when final selections are made. At least then, people might think about how the results will look and HV can make any further enquiries before the final decisions are made to make sure any bias is removed and selection decisions are fair and justifiable.

I agree. Having seen the selection process up close for JSC I won't do it again. One of the HV selectors pushed through two kids from their own club because they were great local players even though none of the other selectors rated them on their trial performance. That undermines the whole process. And it was just JSC! No wonder kids and parents get disheartened.

JSC/zone selection. Kids/parents are used to travelling outside their area for Hockey. Have them trial at a neutral venue outside of their zone, where the local club selectors can be close to home and select from a group of players with no club ties.

Still early days but any word on how HV will determine Shield team gradings for next year ?

I think all shield is based on clubs having met the criteria.

If there is no relegation from PL in 2016, does that mean 1-2 teams will come up from VL1 and there will be 13-14 teams in the PL competition in 2017?

HV seem pretty determine to " grow the game " , surely Geelong are in the plan . Game growing or watered down ?

New criteria for Premier League in 2017. Are there any clubs that don't fit the criteria currently in Premier League? There are quite a few in VL1 that wouldn't.

Essendon, Powerhouse and MUHC wouldn't qualify because of their pitches but only Geelong and TEM meet pitch requirements from VL1

Hv are useless. this sport will go downhill so quick. It was voted for by the PL Presidents. I think adding up to another 8 teams in a short amount of time will be detrimental but time will tell

team list out today , quite a few very young players in team or t/on , is there really no depth in Vic ? Bit unfair to make the GK decision 1 week before departure for tournament
